Why is it important?
It can be overwhelming for traders or investors to have to go through a lot of news articles and have to determine their importance “manually”.
By showing only the most important and impactful content at the top of the page, we are helping them to save time with research of the markets of interest, surface the most important events they need to focus on on a daily basis, and highlight opportunities the might have otherwise missed.
Implementation details
- We are showing 20 most recent stories with the filters above. The timeframe that we are using to fetch news is last 2 months.
- If a new article arrives while the user is viewing the widget, we will push it out to the front of the article list and mark the new article accordingly. The user will also be able to see exactly how many new articles arrived while they were viewing the page.
Trending Instruments
What is it?
The Trending Instruments section helps users identify potentially profitable financial assets by tracking their popularity and news sentiment.
It works by analyzing online news articles to identify the most talked-about financial assets. Then, it shows the daily price and sentiment change of those assets, allowing users to monitor their performance and identify new investment opportunities.
The goal of this section is to help users stay ahead of market trends and make informed investment decisions based on current news and sentiment and the price movements.
We are analysing the performance of the instruments based on the price and the news sentiment, and are grouping them into four categories:
- Best Performers: instruments that experienced an increase in both the price and the news sentiment values.
- Worst Performers: instruments that experienced a decrease in both the price and the news sentiment values.
- Warning Signs: instruments that experienced an increase in price and a decrease in the news sentiment values.
- Growth Potential: instruments that experienced a decrease in price and an increase in the news sentiment value.
Why is it important?
By providing information on both price movements and news sentiment, this section empowers traders and investors to make informed decisions that combine market data with the prevailing sentiment.
The grouping of instruments into four categories—Best Performers, Worst Performers, Warning Signs, and Growth Potential—provides a structured approach to evaluating assets based on their recent price and news sentiment changes, assisting traders and investors in targeting their strategies.
It can sometimes be challenging to identify what the news coverage on various instruments means, so using these four groups gives traders and investors a good indication of the key instruments to focus on.
Implementation details
The Quadrants
- We are showing 10 assets with largest price and sentiment movements
- We’re looking at the movement in the previous 24 hours, so this is daily performance.
- For News Sentiment we are looking at the Feel Good Factor value - the logarithmic ratio between Positivity and Negativity which resembles the Bull-Bear ratio indicator from technical analysis.
- The size of the instrument bubbles is determined by the RVT (Relative Volume of Talk) value. The larger the bubble size, the more this instrument dominated the overall news coverage in the last 24 hours.
News Articles
Clicking on the bubbles attempts to fetch relevant news stories about the selected instrument. We are fetching up to 50 most recent articles based on the selected instrument in the last month.
Analysis
What is it?
The Analysis section includes stories from the Wall Street Journal column “Heard on the Street”.
Heard on the Street is the Wall Street Journal’s influential and award-winning financial analysis column. The publication team is based in six global financial centers on four continents, bringing traders and investors market-moving insights both on stories at the top of the global business community’s agenda and those that soon might be. Readers often say that they “heard it here first.”
Why is it important?
This section includes content about very large and influential events in the markets, as well as events that are not as widely known and have potential to become significant in the nearest future. Having access to such content helps traders and investors identify potential trends and focus areas.
Implementation details
We are fetching the most recent 20 articles from this column to display on the site.
