Acuity NewsIQ is a powerful analytics component of the Research Terminal designed to help users identify high-probability trading opportunities. By synthesising data from our AI Market Companion with real-time price action, NewsIQ surfaces the most impactful market drivers and visualises momentum through proprietary sentiment quadrants.

1. Hot News: The AI-Powered Intelligence Feed

The "Hot News" section acts as the primary filter for the global financial landscape. Rather than a standard headline stream, it utilises the intelligence engine of the AI Market Companion to deliver curated, high-impact updates.

Key Intelligence Categories

  • Hot News (AI Summaries): Powered by our AI Market Companion, this section provides the most noteworthy updates from around the globe. It distils complex news into concise summaries that explain why a story matters, saving traders hours of manual research.

  • Analysis (Latest Price Movers): This section focuses specifically on current-day stories regarding assets experiencing significant shifts in price or volume. It explains the technical and fundamental reasons behind the movement, ensuring traders understand the catalyst for volatility.

  • Significant Equity & Macro Events: Essential highlights on corporate earnings and high-impact economic indicators that are currently shaping market direction.

2. Trending Instruments: The Sentiment Quadrant

The "Trending Instruments" section is the visual heart of NewsIQ. It identifies potentially profitable assets by tracking their popularity (News Volume) and News Sentiment in real-time.

The Four Quadrants of Opportunity

We group the top 10 assets with the largest price and sentiment movements over the previous 24 hours into four actionable categories:

  1. Best Performers: Instruments experiencing a simultaneous increase in both price and news sentiment.

  2. Worst Performers: Instruments showing a decrease in both price and sentiment.

  3. Warning Signs: Assets where the price is increasing, but news sentiment is declining—often signalling an exhausted trend or hidden risk.

  4. Growth Potential: Assets where the price is decreasing, but news sentiment is improving—highlighting potential "buy the dip" opportunities before a recovery.

Implementation Logic

  • The Bubbles: Asset popularity is visualized through RVT (Relative Volume of Talk). The larger the bubble, the more that instrument has dominated global news coverage in the last 24 hours.

  • Sentiment Metric: We utilise the Feel Good Factor—a logarithmic ratio of Positivity vs. Negativity—to determine the asset's position on the sentiment axis.

  • Deep Dive: Clicking any instrument bubble instantly fetches the most recent relevant articles and AI-generated insights from the past month.

3. Operational Methodology

NewsIQ is built for speed and responsiveness, ensuring traders are always looking at the most current market state.

  • Real-Time Push Architecture: If a new high-impact update from the AI Market Companion arrives while a user is viewing the tool, it is automatically pushed to the front of the list. A counter displays exactly how many new articles have arrived during the session.

  • Rolling Timeframes: The tool fetches the most recent impactful stories from the last 2 months, prioritizing current-day relevance.

  • Filtered Discovery: By showing only the most "noteworthy" content, NewsIQ prevents information overload and helps traders focus on valid opportunities they might otherwise miss.
