FCA Regulatory permissions of Acuity Research Limited

Acuity Research Limited is the legal entity of Signal Centre. Acuity Research Limited is wholly owned by Acuity Trading Limited.

The firm is a United Kingdom (“UK”) financial services firm which is  authorised and regulated in the UK by the UK financial services regulator, the  Financial Conduct Authority (the “FCA”); firm reference number 787261.

 
The firm is regulated and authorised by the FCA as an “Exempt MiFID firm  (Article 2)”; this means the activities of the firm are not caught by the  Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (“MiFID”) as the ‘regulated advice’  the firm provides is not caught by the “Investment Advice” activity definition  under MiFID, where the investment advice definition under MiFID only applies  to ‘personal recommendations’ as per Article 4(4) of EU MiFID II Directive  2014/65/EU. 


The investment advice the firm provides does not constitute personal  recommendations as defined under the FCA. 


The firm has permission to provide investment advice (except on pension  transfers and pension opt opts);

  • Option (excluding a commodity option and an option on a commodity future) 
  • Rolling spot forex contract 
  • Share 
  • Spread Bet 
  • Unit 
  • Warrant 

The advice the firm provides is in the form of trading signals that are not  personal recommendations. 

Where the firm is looking to provide its trading signals services to persons in other EU States, the firm should establish the individual EU State’s interpretation of whether or not non-personal trading signals are considered  regulated activity.
